Coupling, rotationally free of play, between manually operated rotating knob and the axis of a cylinder is esp. designed for use with a typewriter platen. The knob (2) has a plug axle (2) with a V-shaped longitudinal groove (3) which engages with a V-shaped strip (10) within the reception hole (7) of the platen axle. This strip is mounted on an elastic finger (9) whose rear end if unsupported and ends in a right-angle bent flange (12) at the termination of the strip. The front end of the finger is joined to the reception hole (7). The cross-section of the V-shape strip increases from the reception hole to the end flange.
