<p>The infinitely variable epicyclic gearing has an input shaft connected through a first sun gear to planet gears. These are meshed also with a second sun gear secured to an output shaft. The planets are mounted in a carrier rotatable in a housing. The periphery of the carrier has gear teeth meshing, and constituting a gear pump together with a further gear. The gear pump recirculates oil through a duct controlled by a throttle valve. Progressive closing of the valve has a braking effect on the carrier, resulting in progressive increase in speed of the output shaft.</p> |
