<p>An opto-electronic fork coupler consists of a U shaped housing. One section of the housing contains a semiconductor luminescent element and the other section contains a semiconductor photo-element. The light path, which can be interrupted, passes through the airgap between the two sections. The airgap (6) between the sections engages a wedge (9). The end of the wedge remote from the semiconductor components (4, 5) tapers into a point. The light emanating from the luminescent component is reflected outwards on one of the sloping sides, and the incoming light is reflected from the other sloping side to the photo-element.</p> |
