PURPOSE:To execute a stable reset operation by varying phase differences phi3 - phi5, or phi1, phi2, phi4, phi5, or phi1 - phi3, in the case when phase differences phi2 - phi4 reach the operation limit, returning phi2 - phi4 into an operation range by an arbitrary size, respectively, while executing a polarized light control, and thereafter, returning to a state for executing the polarized light control by varying phi2 - phi4. CONSTITUTION:In addition to three phase differences phi2 - phi4 varied in order execute a polarized light control operation, two phase differences phi1, phi5 operated at the time of reset are used. By these phase differences phi1, phi5, incident and emitted polarized light to a second - a fourth optical phase modulators 100b - 100d can be varied, therefore, irrespective of a polarized light state of incident and emitted light beams to a polarized light controller, a large/small relation of a circular arc related to reset can always be operated freely. Accordingly, reset can be started under the condition no power penalty is generated. Also, even if the incident and emitted polarized light to the polarized light controller is varied on the way of reset, the condition that no power penalty is generated can be maintained. In such a way, a stable reset operation is obtained. |
