In a tunnelling machine mined material is conveyed rearwards through a transverse, cutter head-supporting bulkhead CS of the shield S of the machine to hopper means 42, H 1 , H 2 at the rear of the machine by conveyers 32, 36 housed in tubes 38, 40 of which the larger tube 38 is secured at one end to the bulkhead CS about an opening therein and is so coupled to allow of universal movement at the other end by a flexible sleeve 46 to the forward end of the second tube 40. which has a forwardly directed extension 46 coupled through a universal joint 50, 60 to the bulkhead CS. |
