The storage element for electrical energy, for example a lead-acid accumulator, is equipped with positive and negative plates. These plates (1) are assembled such that they lie in vertical planes. The first conductors (3), which are connected to the active material, are horizontal. Vertical metal busbars (5) are used as internal current conductors. They extend from the top end of the storage element downwards along the vertical edges of the plates (1) at a distance therefrom. Each busbar (5) has a number of lateral connections (6) at different heights, so that each plate (1) makes contact, by means of the lateral connections (6), with the busbar (5) associated with it at specific points (x, y) which are distributed over the height of the plate (1). The lateral connections (6) extend over the width of a plate group in the horizontal in such a manner that a plurality of plates (1) of the same polarity are electrically connected at different points at the same height. As a result of its considerably internal resistance, this storage element represents a considerable improvement when discharging at high current intensities. <IMAGE> |
