<p>Undesirable organic impurities are removed from electrolytes with simultaneous recovery of metals from the rinsing baths used after the electrolytic treatment. The rinsing water is neutralised to ppte. the metals as cpds., which settle; and the organic impurities are removed with the supernatant liq. The pptd. cpds. are redissolved and returned continuously or batchwise to the electrolyte. The metals are pref. pptd. as hydroxides, carbonates or a metal-complexes; and the ppte. is washed, esp. using the rinsing water, and agitated, possibly by adding air. The ppte. is pref. dried and then dissolved in acid for reuse. A portion of the electrolyte may be added to the rinsing water being treated in the process. Used for the removal of excessive amts. of brighteners surfactants, and/or other organic cpds. from electroplating baths.</p> |
