<p>An ion exchange resin is prepd. by polymerising a compsn. which contains at least a raw material comprising styrene substd. by Br and/or I in the benzene ring. The raw material is pref. mono- and/or dibromostyrene and the compsn. pref. also contains styrene as co-monomer. The resin has high density (1.05-1.35) and can be used in countercurrent ion exchange techniques where the resin bed flows downwards against an ascending current of liquid. The resin still retains its good kinetic characteristics and its ion or ligand exchange capacity is not affected. Partic. for extraction of U, Cu and Au from leaching solns. or suspensions.</p> |
