Support for explosive charge for seismic exploration - comprises inflatable support containing quantity of fire-extinguishing powder

Seismic exploration for oil involves use of shock source. Explosive shocks cause damage to the ground and present a fire risk which is overcome by placing charges on an inflated support containing a quantity of fire extinguishing powder. Explosive charges (10) are placed on top of inflated supports (12) which are located in the required positions and placed so that they are stable. The charges are connected to a fuse (40) and suitable detonator. The charges are attached by elastic straps (14) forming an integral part of the support and each support contains a quantity of fire extinguishing powder (16) introduced via the inflating valve (18).
