<p>Containers (8, 9) of similar diameter, but possibly of different lengths are moved by superimposed conveyors (6, 7) to a position (11) at which they become placed end to end. At a given position (4) a single loose fitting thermo-plastic sleeve is applied to surround the two containers. A further conveyor, which may comprise upper and lower endless chains, receives the sleeved containers (10) between them and passes them through a heated curing oven. The containers emerge for despatch at (19) with the sleeve tightly adhering to them. The chain conveyors may travel opposite directions and/or at different speeds so that the containers revolve as they pass through the oven.</p> |
