<p>The positions and values of the energy losses associated with the Compton interactions and the photoelectric interactions are determined; as a function of the positions and values of the energy losses associated with the Compton interactions of the gamma-photons and also those associated with the subsequent photoelectric interactions of the same photons, the information about the spatial distribution is obtd. Pref., the operation of deducing the distribution information consists of establishing a probability function for each gamma-photon relating to a first, exclusive Compton interaction and to a second, completing photoelectric interaction; a density analysis of the probability functions is carried out in order to give a picture of the spatial distribution of the radioactive material. A far smaller number of measurements and a greater accuracy of calculation is achieved.</p> |
