The seal has two floating rings (1) which are in contact with each other at the common face (3). The rings are L shaped in section. The corner is on the outside. The floating rings support a connecting piece (4) which has an inner toroidal ring (11) which fits in the corner (21) of the floating ring. The connecting piece has an outer ring (12) which is cylindrical. The cylindrical ring fits inside the stationary support (7). The connecting piece (4) has a metallic rib made from a circular spring. The connecting piece is made from moulded rubber.
