Underground structure concrete roof suitable for supporting vehicles - has expansion joints covered by multiple layers of bitumen, kraft paper, sand and concrete

A surface acting as e.g. a roof for an underground garage, and also suitable for the circulation of vehicle, has an upper layer (4) of asphalt with waterproof joints covering the expansion gaps (10) in the concrete (1) underneath. The edges of the concrete carry a base layer (11) leaving a gap at the corners which are chamfered. This is bridged by a reinforced bituminous layer (4) with a central bulge (13) holding a pasty mastic insert (15). This layer (14) is hot welded to a plastics skin (12). A prefabricated elastomeric bitumen layer (16) is unrolled when cold onto a kraft paper layer (2) and further bitumen edging strips (3a) added and hot welded on, and a metal frame (5) added. The space then receives a layer of sand (17) followed by reinforced concrete (18).
