The rotary-piston machine has a cylinder in the shape of a hollow disc, whose chamber enlarges into an annular bead. The disc has a central opening for a drive shaft, and there are inlet and discharge ports for the working medium controlled by a valve. A piston is driven by the medium and mounted on a bearing in the cylinder. The machine is a piston-type steam engine, the piston periphery comprising two continuous curves (7), forming between themselves and the cylinder wall (2) sickle-shaped chambers following one after the other. The ends of the curves are joined by a straight line (6) extending towards the disc centre (13) and forming the diameter of a circular piston surface.
