<p>The machine is used for profile bevelling the edges of spectacle lenses, rough and finish grinding being effected manually. A combined roughing and finishing diamond wheel is used, mounted (8) on a vertical shaft and rotated by a motor (10). A guide ring (1) fits over the wheel, being moved axially by a lever operated cam (2, 6) on the machine housing (1b). The lens is first marked out and the guide lowered to expose the roughing wheel (1a), being used as a rest together with a stop. The guide is then raised to expose only the finishing wheel (2a), a groove (3a) forming the rib around the lens.</p> |
