When, in a known flier, of the two flier arms (1, 2) of which at least one (1) is hollow and which consists of a thread-guiding or roving-guiding steel tube (3) surrounded over its entire length by cast aluminium or cast light metal, the upper end of the steel tube opens outwards laterally next to the hub (6), the roving has to be threaded in via a transverse bore in the small head and then drawn through the longitudinal bore of the steel tube. This operation is complicated and cannot be mechanised. The threading in of the roving can be simplified substantially and therefore also carried out more quickly and more cost-effectively if, in the way according to the invention, the steel tube (3) also passes through the head (7) of the flier, and its mouth orifice located in the head is arranged concentrically relative to the geometrical axis of rotation. The roving can now be threaded through from the free arm end (4) as far as the free head end (7) in one action, for example by means of a plastic wire provided at its free end with a barb. <IMAGE>
