Chiller for car air conditioning unit - uses by=pass loop in engine coolant circuit for operation absorption principle

The air conditioning system has a chiller which is powered on the absorption principle using ammonia vapour, or similar coolants. The heat for the cooling circuit is taken from the waste hett from the engine, by a bypass loop (6) in the coolant circuit. The amount of energy available from the engine coolant circuit enables a large capacity chiller to be provided in a compact space, and without a drain on the battery, to drive a compressor. The waste heat can be applied directly or via a heat exchanger loop. It can be taken from the engine coolant circuit or from the warm air flow over the engine and radiator.
