The shaft has mounted on it at one end a disc-shaped and in particular eccentric component, and an extended portion beyond it with a non-round protrusion for torque transmission. At the end of the shaft (1) is a hollow cylindrical boss (2) of reduced diameter, and which is a close fit in a bore in the disc (3). The portion of the boss beyond the disc is pressed to form two flat faces (4) and at the same time grip the disc. There can be a blind hole drilled in the shaft end, and into which a length of pipe is pressed to form the boss. To give better gripping of the disc, the bore in it can be non-round, being typically provided with two diametrically opposite recesses.
