1512392 Extruding powder capsules GRANGES NYBY AB 18 April 1975 [19 April 1974] 47985/77 Divided out of 1512391 Heading B5A [Also in Division B3] The Specification is similar to the parent Specification 1,512,391 but the claims relate to a capsule from which rules, bars or other profiled elongated metal objects can be produced by extrusion, the capsule consisting of a thin ductile sheet metal container whose wall thickness is less than 5% of the external diameter of the capsule and which has been sealed after filling with a powder of one or more metals or metal alloys or mixtures thereof or of a mixture of metal and/or metal alloy powder with ceramic powder, the powders consisting at least predominantly of a spherical or substantially spherical particles and the density of the powder being 60-70% of the theoretical density. This density may be achieved by vibration and/or ultrasonic means. The capsule is then subjected to cold isostatic pressure acting on all surfaces until the density of the powder reaches at least 80% of the theoretical density. The wall thickness of the container is preferably less than 1% of the external diameter in the range 0À1 mm-5 mm. |
