The locking system is used to lock overhanging lifting arm on the lifting machine vertical column. This arm travels up and down on the column and the arm can be rotated in horizontal plane. The lifting arm is locked by clamping plate on column and clamping block on the arm. The locking system automatically prevents arm rotation in horizontal plane when the arm supports a load. The curved locking face (17) of the locking plate (9) centre coincides with the centre of suspension point (6) of the lifting arm. The clamping block locking face (16) contacts on clamping the locking plate at two points on both sides of straight line connecting the suspension point (6) of the lifting arm.
