The insulating layer may be a plurality of coatings of varnish of polyesterimide, polyamide-imide, polyhydantoin, polyurethane or polyimide. The alcohol-insoluble nylon component may be nylon-12-6 (laurolactam/#-caprolactam copolymer), nylon- 12-nylon-6, 6 (laurolactam/hexamethylene diammonium adipate copolymer), or nylon-12- nylon-6-10 (laurolactam/hexamethylene diammonium sebacate copolymer), containing 60- 90% laurolactam. The other nylon component may be various nylon-6, nylon-6-6 and nylon- 6-10 copolymers with 10-50% of nylon-12. The coating may also contain thermosetting resins such as phenolic resins, melamine resins, epoxy resins and blocked isocyanates. The coating is applied as a solvent solution, dried, one or two further coatings applied and then the coated wire is baked. The wire may be formed into a coil and self-bonded by application of heat and pressure.</p> |
