1473697 Driving rotary offset printing machines MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG NURNBERG AG 19 July 1974 [21 July 1973] 32214/74 Heading B6C A nine-cylinder rotary press having four plate cylinders 9, 10, 11, 12; four blanket cylinders 4, 5, 7, 8; and one impression cylinder 3 is provided with a drive system which can be changed to achieve different combinations of printing, when the contacts between blanket cylinders and impression cylinders are changed. To achieve this, slidably mounted gear-wheels 45, 46, 47 and 48 are provided in the drive transmission, each blanket cylinder having three gear-wheels associated therewith, two of these on cylinders 5 and 8, one at each end, being releasably attached to the shaft but only one, at the end carrying two gear-wheels, is releasably attached on cylinders 4 and 7, the other gearwheels being rigidly attached. The corresponding rigidly mounted gear-wheels on adjacent cylinders 4 and 5 or 8 and 7 are so formed as to not mesh when the cylinders are in contact, whilst still being in mesh with gear-wheels on their respective plate cylinders. The gear-wheels are all preferably helically toothed, so allowing circumferential registration adjustment of the plate cylinders by axial movement thereof and reducing noise. |
