A spray cooler for cooling continuously cast metal stock has a body which is use has a longitudinal axis located perpendicularly to the face of the cast product. The wall of the cooler has several groups of outlet orifices for air and water, the orifices being longitudinally spaced from each other. The body of the cooler has a central chamber supplied by one of the fluids under pressure and two lateral chambers supplied by the other fluid under pressure, each of the orifices leading to one of the chambers. The cooler is characterised by its body being in one section having a form symmetrical about a longitudinal plane. The cooler is of simpler construction than conventional devices.
