A soil irrigation device comprises a tube of textile which acts as a filter, filled with an absorbent material. Pref. the absorbent material is an amorphous pulp of polymeric fibres obtd. by pptn. in a solvent. The textile tube may be woven, knitted or non-woven. The textile tube may be of polyethylene terephthalate glycol, or viscose filaments. The absorbent material may be polyhexanmethylene adipamide. Irrigation can be effected in a controlled manner without flooding. Evapn. is reduced.
