<p>Flattening machine for dry or moist cereal, oily and leguminous grains and various oil cakes comprises a pair of flatting rollers integrally connected by a gear train. The hopper is fitted with a fluted distribution roller which feeds the grains on the rollers; these are made of cast iron and are provided with oblique or spiral grooves to improve the bursting of the grains and increase the yield. The rollers are driven by a train of gear wheels so that they rotate in synchronism and are rendered integral. They can rotate in compression or when sepd. from each other, according to the grain to be processed; adjustment is made by a screw and hand-wheel or by an eccentric mounting and a lever. The drive to the principal roller is by a variable power electric motor. The machine can deal ith all types of grain, whatever their section, with a relative humidity of 8-50%. It avoids too fine a grinding which would produce a flour and harm the cattle; at the same time it preserves the germ, the principal source of vitamins, intact.</p> |
