<p>Accessory appts. for mfr of extrusion blown tubular film comprises a bar which can move along the film path up the bubble tower and between nip, chill and haul-off roll nips until approaching a film wind-up unit. The bar is carried along a non linear path as appropriate by engaging moving belt or chain tracks flanking two sides of the film path and aligned with the roll nip gaps. During extrusion start-up, the leading end of the extruded film can be clipped to or wrapped about the bar and led up the tower and between open roll nips more rapidly and safely than by manual manipulation. The film front is disengaged from the bar when in position to enter the wind-up system, the roll nips being closed to engate the film after passage of the carrier bar. Specifically, the bar carriers may be toothed belts engaging pinion teeth mounted on the ends of the bar, and the belts are power-driven.</p> |
