A strain gauge mounted on a diaphragm 10 Fig. 1 comprises a diametrical beam 14 of semiconductor material with localized p.n. regions 16 in the middle of the beam and similar regions 18 at the ends of the beam. Pressure on one face of the diaphragm produces opposite type changes in the resistances of the elements 16, 18, which are connected in pairs in a bridge circuit, the plurality of elements 16, 18 allowing selection between similar elements for initial matching in the bridge. The transducer may be used for warming fluid-pressure, acceleration or weight Figs.2, 3, 4, (not shown). |
