The high speed breakdown vehicle carries a crane and has an upper (12) platform, which can turn around a vertical axis (13) and carries a boom (15). These are controlled hydraulically, power being supplied by a diesel engine (17). The engine (17) and another (16) are connected by a shaft (18) to a speed reducer (21) with friction wheels (23, 24) which turn the upper platform (12). Another shaft (25) is connected to a clutch (26) to a gear box (27) and then to the front axle (32). This axle can also be driven by the second engine (16) via the friction wheels (23, 24). A drive is made to the other axle (37) via a splitter box (34).
