The method for wet treatment in a drum, particularly for the tanning of strips or pieces of material, has the purpose of avoiding the entanglement or knotting of the material during the treatment. In this method, the strip material, before being introduced into the drum, is folded with folds having a length not more than three times the width of the strip, to form what is essentially a package of folded material of rectangular form; the edges of each fold are then fixed along a single sewing line running along one of the long sides of the folded package.
