A catalyst for the preparation of organosilicon compounds by the addition of hydrogen-silanes or -siloxanes to an olefinically-unsaturated organic compound comprises trimethyldipyridine - platinum - iodide of the formula This catalyst is particularly useful for those reactors in which the organo-hydrogen-siloxane reactant contains firly large amounts of H- siloxane units. Preferred reaction temperatures are 100‹ to 200‹ C. and preferred amounts of catalyst are from 0À1 to 50 mg. per kg. of reaction mixture. An example describes the use of the above catalyst in the reaction between allyl glycidyl ether and a polysiloxane of the formula to give a product of the formula wherein in each case n has an average value of 8. |
