Solar energy collector consists of a collector plate with heat transfer tubes embedded in it. It has rolled channels of parabolic section. In the focal plane of the parabola is located a hollow rib which encloses a flat tube through which heat transfer medium flows. Pref. the plane can have narrow V shaped depressions rolled into it into which oval tubes are then pressed. At the return bends, the tubes can retain their circular cross section. They can have internal struts and reinforcement ribs and be of extruded prodn. Used in solar radiation collectors. The collector gives good absorption, good thermal conductivity and good heat transfer to the heat transfer medium while being simple and cheap to construct. |
