<p>Operation of a directly fired tunnel kiln is for firing ceramic prodt. emitting harmful materials. The preheat zone and least part of the combustion zone are operated in co-current. The waste gases in the hot zone are taken from the combustion channel into the flue. In the preheat zone, heating and recirculation devices are installed. Heat from the cooling zone is used heat the preheat zone. The co-current motion in the preheat heat and combustion zones is carried rhythmically in the axial direction of the funnel. At the kiln inlet are located volume balancing devices to take up the axial to and fro motion of the gases. Any toxic materials emitted by the fired objects are carried by the gas towards the hot zone. Used with ceramic objects which are mixed with combustible materials to form a light structure, e.g. light tiles - by mixing with finely divided combustible materials such as sawdust, polystyrene, peat etc.</p> |
