The device has two limit switches (21, 22) which are arranged displaceably along a spindle (11) which rotates with the winding shaft (A) of the roller shutter and fixably in given positions. Situated between the limit switches (21, 22) is a common switching member (14) which, as spindle nut, is displaced in the longitudinal direction of the spindle (11) on rotation of the spindle. A rod-shaped eccentric (15) makes it possible alternatively to release the end switches (21, 22) for displacement or to fix them in a position which has been reached. Each limit switch can be carried along into its end position by means of the switching member and then stops in the end position, in which it is fixed, and then, in the completely rolled-up or completely rolled-down end position of the roller shutter, is actuated by the switching member (14) and switches off the drive. <IMAGE>
