<p>1512218 Electric control of sewing machines SINGER CO 6 Oct 1975 [26 Nov 1974] 40856/75 Heading G3N [Also in Division H1] The pattern of stitches to be sewn by a sewing machine is selected by a control circuit comprising switches 52A-52G, Fig. 2, operated by press buttons 22, Fig. 1, on the sewing machine to select one of seven groups of four patterns, and a sliding switch 63 displaceable by a control wheel 24 into one of four positions to select one of the four patterns in the selected group. The switch 63 provides binary signals on leads 100, 101 to a latch 91 which also receives inputs 97-99 derived by combination gates 102-104 from the switches 52B-52G. The latter applies corresponding binary signals on leads 92-96 to address memory 110 which is programmed to provide outputs on leads 120 to select the desired patterns. The switches 52A-52G are connected to a NAND gate 87 which gives an output when any switch is closed. This triggers one shot 89 to operate latch 91. Leads 130-132 from the memory repeat the inputs on leads 97-99 and decoder 135 causes a corresponding light diode 26A-26G to be illuminated above the operated push-button to indicate on a panel 25 which of the seven groups of four available stitch patterns has been selected. One of the four is selected by turning wheel 24, the panel moving with the wipers of switch 63 so that the selected switch pattern is indicated by being positioned under a tinted strip on a transparent cover in front of the panel 25.</p> |
