<p>A cold welding method of forming a joint between two members, can be used to attach one member (6) at right angles to another (4) using a groove (22) in the latter to exert the required pressure. One side of this groove has an auxiliary groove (8) parallel to the bottom of the groove, but just above the bottom. A tongue (10) projecting horizontally from the bottom of the vertical member is then forced horizontally into the auxiliary groove. The pressure required, is obtd. by forcing a tool carrying pressure rollers into the space (S) remaining inside the groove (22), making a right angle joint. Other joints using the same principal include one with two tongues forced apart to engage an outer member. The joint can be used for diecast parts, and is used to make up a pallet.</p> |
