Mechanism comprises a bar (1) sliding in a sleeve (2) having a taper face (4) on the inside, bearing against clamping bodies (6) acting against the bar periphery. When the bar slides in one direction in relation to the rod, these bodies lock against the taper face. There can be a stop limiting movement of the bodies away from the taper face on release, and the bodies can be spring-loaded against the face. They can be release by an annular body (8) inside the sleeve, operated from outside it and sliding in relation to it.
