Improving the appearance and scratch resist - ance of picture surfaces

A picture stuck onto wool, ceramic etc and lacquered in the usual way is given a rough surface with a network of scratches by coating it with a solution of dextrin (800-1200g) water (1.2-2kg) alkyl acetate esp butyl acetate (50-150g), a water soluble alcohol (25-75g) and a washing agent (25-75g). This improves the look and makes the picture more resistant to scratching.
