Deformed mine shaft reworking system - with new supports installed after cutting seatings and removal of old supports

A system for reworking a deformed mine shaft includes first removing the deformed framework members (34). A cut (39) is made each side where the gallery narrows, using swinging cutter, immediately ahead of two normal frame members (35). The cut material is then carried away by belt conveyors (22, 42) which include angle portions. The swinging cutter with a rotary head is suspended from an arched structure (9) following the shape of the full mine gallery (2). This also carries a travelling hoist for removing the deformed framework. A framework down the centre, inside which is positioned the belt conveyor (22), is also used as a track for the travelling crane which installs thee new roof supports.
