1512248 Electrodes SALVE SA 8 Sept 1975 [10 Sept 1974 22 Jan 1975] 36927/75 Heading ASR [Also in Division B2] An electrode for electrocardiographic measurements comprises a brass or aluminium wire mesh 1 which may be bent to conform to the body, said mesh being provided on the side 2 to be applied to the body with a plurality of spikes 5 for penetrating into the skin, and with a layer of adhesive 3, the adhesive 3 and spikes 5 being covered by cover sheets 4 and 4a. The spikes 5 are integral with the mesh, being formed by cutting and bending pieces of wire out of the mesh. A transverse fold in the mesh is provided to give a flange 6 for connection of the electrode to an ECG apparatus. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 1 (not shown), the mesh is replaced by a sheet of aluminium foil and spikes are provided by first perforating the aluminium sheet and then inserting spikes into the perforations. |
