1333560 Epoxy resins AGFA-GEVAERT 19 Nov 1970 [23 Dec 1969] 62709/69 Heading C3B [Also in Division G2] A light-sensitive epoxy polymer which contains in the polymeric chain or appended thereto: (1) azido groups, (2) groups which react with the azido groups on exposure to cross-link the polymer, e.g. hydroxyl groups, and (3) sensitizing groups selected from imidazole, oxazole, oxadiazole, thiazole, anthracene and hydro-carbons containing at least 3 fused rings possibly substituted by hydroxyl, aldehyde, thiourea or keto groups. The specified polymers are derived from epichlorhydrin and 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)propane to which p-azidobenzene sulphonyl groups and either 1-sulphonylanthracene or 2(4-carbonylphenyl)-5-phenyl oxazole groups are attached or the azido group is linked to the polymeric chain via the sensitizing group, e.g. a 2-(4-carbonylphenyl-5-(4<SP>1</SP>-azidophenyl)- oxazole group. The material may be image-wise exposed and developed to remove the uncrosslinked area to produce a printing plate. The polymer preferably contains about 50% of the recurring units substituted by azido groups and 0À1-20% of sensitizing groups for azido groups. |
