Analgesic compsns. contain as active constituents, a cpd. of formula (I) (where X and Y are H, halo, alkyl, alkenyl, NO2, OH or methylenedioxy, n is 1,2 or 3, A is O or S, when the double bond is in the 3,3' R is H, aryl, alkyl or alkenyl, when the double bond is in the 2,3 position, R1 is H or alkyl, provided that when -AR1 is OH or -Oalkyl X and Y are not both H). Some cpds. (I) are claimed per se, including 3-oxo-2-methyl-5,6-di-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1,2,4-triazine, to 3-thioanalogue and 3-hydroxy-5-(4-methoxyphenyl)-6-(2-chlorophenyl)-1,2,4-triazine. Used for treatment of severe pain for long periods because of low toxicity and side-effect incidence.
