Attached to the front end of the stud-welding gun (1), which has a welding piston with clamping nut for clamping a stud holder, is a bell-like part (2) tightly enclosing this clamping nut. The bell-like part (2) has a shielding-gas connection and passages (6), open to the inside, in order to direct a shielding-gas flow to the point at which a stud is to be welded to a base metal. At least three earth feet (3) are attached to the bell-like part at an equal angular distance from one another in order to maintain a predetermined distance between the free end (22) of the bell-like part and the base metal. Studs can thus be welded quickly and reliably in a shielding-gas atmosphere. <IMAGE>
