Induction heating vessel for metals - has tubular stays forming enclosure with longitudinal discontinuities

A metallic vessel inductively heating metals has a metallic enclosure comprised, in the heating zone, by longitudinal tubular supports or stays maintained in position between two spaced annular metallic collars. The stays have >=1 electrical discontinuity to the passage of current through the stay. Each metallic stay is insulated from its neighbour by joints of refractory insulating material and has a trapezoidal section in which the smaller side faces towards the interior of the vessel. The discontinuity comprises a trapezoidal longitudal opening in one of the side walls of the stay, the opening being occupied by a wedge of an electrically insulating material. The present arrangement minimises the risks of stray heating by Foucault currents of the enclosure, partic. the stays.
