The infinitely variable chain gearing has two parallel shafts to each of which is secured a disc supporting an annular array of chain sprockets. The sprockets are supported by respective radial slides movable by respective radial screws from a common gear rotatable on the shaft. At least one of the sprockets is geared to a fixed radial rack so that the sprocket rotates only when its radial position is changed. A chain trained around the two arrays of sprockets transmits torque between the shafts and the transmission ratio is changed by synchronized operation of the two common gears.
