Reactive dye monomers capable of condensation are applied to textiles in the presence of an acid-binder polycondensed on the fibre, followed by heat-setting (fixing) the polycondensate, pref. dyes being Rk-NR-F-NHR (where Rk is a dihalotriazine or dihalopyrimidyl group, more pref. a dihalopyrimdyl-4- or 5-carbonyl group; F is an azo, anthraquinone or phthalocyanine dye residue having at least one -SO3H group, and R is H or alkyl). Pref. acid binder is an alkali metal salt of a di- or tribasic weak inorganic acid or of a lower aliphatic monocarboxylic acid, pref. NaHCO3, Na2HPO4 Na- or K acetate. Dye is applied to textile and pref. polycondensed by allowing it to stay 0.5-12 hrs. at 20-100 degrees C and polycondensate is pref. set at 100-200 degrees C.
|
