Lathe spindle electrical brake - uses controlled time transmitter in brake coil exciter current circuit

The electrical brake for a lathe spindle has a controlled time transmitter (4) connected in the exciter current circuit of the brake (1) coils, the transmitter having variable time lengths. The transmitter frequency is alterable, being adjustable by a potentiometer (5). The frequency of the transmitter can be controllable by an impulse transmitter fitted to the lathe spindle. Feed to the transmitter is provided by a generator (6). the brake enables braking to be set for different requirements produced by various workpieces.
