Missile spin detection system - has spring loaded spin operated ring carrying permanent magnet past magnetic field sensitive semiconductor

The missile has a spin detection system which includes a ring (5) supported by an elastic membrane (6) mounted at the centre on a boss (4) in line with the central axis of the missile. This is housed inside a recess in the rear of the missile. The boss is hollow and houses the bearings (3) and also a spring (11). The bearings are supported on a spindle (2) attached to a disc (2a) mounted in an end plate (1) at the bottom of the recess. Embedded in the ring is a permanent magnet (8). When the ring rotates after being freed by acceleration forces, the magnet passes a magnetic field sensitive semiconductor (9) embedded in the end plate. Signals obtained from the semiconductor are used in a spin control system.
