The small animal housing, base trough and a connected cover trough which has an access hole to the inside troughs have facing, setting flanges. The base trough and the cover trough are each in the form of one-piece plastics bodies whose inside has a dividing section formed by holding mechanisms for releasable wall sections. The length of the base or cover troughs is divided into four equal sections and the field width corresponds to the trough width. There are holding devices for planar setting walls which can be erected normal to the base surface.
