<p>The U-shaped channels (1, 2) forming part of a mine gallery support system, have their overlapping ends clamped together by hooked clamps (3, 4) which are pulled tight by a pair of bolts (5) and nuts (6) through their bottoms. Each clamp is hooked (17) at the top to fit over the beaded edge (16) of the top of the ch annel, and curves inwards near the bottom to engage the base of the channel. At these contact points, the clamp include a triangular pad with its longest side forced against the base of the channel. In an alternative design for V shaped channels, the two clamp carry pads which overlap under the pointed base of the lower channel.</p> |
