The temperature sensor for tobacco conveyor lines comprises a swinging, suspended feeler arm (8) whose outer end rests on the surface of the tobacco and follows its undulations (3). The feeler is fitted with a number of negative-temperature-coefficient thermistor elements (12) arranged around its convex surface. Each NTC elements is connected between a common supply rail and the input of its respective amplifier. Each amplifier has a common ref. voltage. Each amplifier output is connected via a diode to a common output rail. This subtraction circuit operates so that the amplifier with the highest output voltage i.e. the lowest value of thermistor resistance at its input, is connected to the sensor output. Thus the point on the feeler having the highest temperature is the one selected to appear at the output.
